A miniseries consisting of only 8 episodes, each 15 minutes long. Based on the Korean boys love series of the same name (Color Rush), the story is about Yeon Woo (Yoo Jun) who is a ‘Mono’, a color blind person who can see things only in a grey tone with different shades, and Yoo Han (Heo Hyun Jun), a future idol trainee who is Yeon Woo’s ‘Probe’. When Probes and Monos meet, Monos will magically see the world in it’s beautiful colors. It is just like destiny, as if they are made for each other by the will of the heavens.

A fantasy series with hidden psychological aspects
We’d say that we really like the wonderful plot of this series, “The world is colorful, grey is not the only color”. Yeon Woo was born with a special kind of color blindness. In the series’ fantasy world, people with this condition are called “Monos”, and they will have a colorful vision when they meet their Probe, who is the representative of their true love. The series uses the love and enchantment that Probes and Monos have for each other as the need to possess each other’s feelings.

There are lots of Probe and Mono couples in this imagined world. There are also shocking news about Monos kidnapping Probes and ended up killing each other. At the same time, there is suspicion whether this kind of situation will happen to every Mono and Probe or not? Yeon Woo’s mother, who is also a Mono, disappeared without a trace after the death of Yeon Woo’s father, who is a Probe. The series did not clarify this but the viewers can guess what happened. From the facts of their love stories, there isn’t any couple who can be the right person for the other.

The series symbolizes each Mono and Probe couple to represent the emotions, temptation and emotional responses. The story ends with unresolved matters and lets the viewers interpret for themselves how the truth of their loves unfold. Moreover, some Monos and Probes do not end up with each other.
Great chemistry between the lead characters and an extraordinary performance
Since the series has a fantasy theme with hidden philosophies and psychological topics, we could say that the plot is a kind of artistic work. It has a great plot and the performances of the lead actors really absorb you into the story and melts your heart as well. This is the first series comeback for Heo Hyun-Joon or Hwall, after his long disappearance from the Korean entertainment industry. He was a former member of a Korean boy band called “The Boyz” and this is his first appearance as the lead character for a boy love series. Hwall looks stunning in the series and we can see that his acting through his eyes can transmit the emotions of the character so well.

As a miniseries, the storytelling is not too long, it gets straight to the point. The lead characters fall in love with each other from the very beginning of the story. When Yoo Han meets Yeon Woo for the first time, he falls in love with Yeon Woo right away and also realizes that Yeon Woo is his Probe as well (It will be revealed at the end of story why they fall in love so instantly). We see Yeon Woo’s gleaming eyes instantly and he feels the need to help Yeon Woo see the colorful tone of this world. In other words, he wants to teach Yeon Woo how to love. He openly expresses his frantic love through his eyes, trying so hard to get close to Yeon Woo and to please Yeon Woo as much as he could. This scene is so pleasant, we confirm that you won’t be able to stop smiling.

Yeon Woo is aware of all the horrific outcomes of Mono and Probe couples, so he tries to stay away from Yoo Han and refuses to give in to his feelings. Besides, he doesn’t want to be the kind of Mono who isn’t able to refuse the temptation and ends up killing his Probe, just like other couples. He doesn’t want to lose his Probe because of his actions. In this painful scene, Yeon Woo’s performance is so engaging that we can feel the character’s feelings. The series has a lot of hidden philosophies and psychological topics, especially the fact that no one can own the other without their consent. It is up to destiny if they belong to each other, however, falling too much into temptation may result in tragedy.
Outstanding fancy emotional transmission
This series portrays emotions in almost every method possible, whether it is through the eyes, words, expressions, touch, scenes and story. The plot is intended for Yoo Han to softly express his pure love without hiding anything from Yeon Woo. The interpretation of the story is beautiful and warm, even though there is only one kissing scene throughout the whole series, it still gives a sensational feeling throughout the series.

Whether it is a scene or just a camera angle, they can express the romantic mood adequately. You will unknowingly smile while watching this series, then you will suddenly be upset when the series ends too soon. Since each episode is only 15 minutes long, the story is quite concise, although full of content, a hidden philosophy and psychological contents which easily touches the audiences’ feelings because it is a love story. In this sense, the series’ author has communicated well. There is neither unbalanced scenes nor misleading us to misunderstand the characters.

The series’ ending is neutral, it is a closed ending that is neither a happy or sad ending. At the end, the gist of the story may not be solved, but the viewers can envision their own conclusion from the lead characters’ love story. Even though it is not a real conclusion, it is also not a doubtful ending. If the lead characters are happy, isn’t that enough?
