Let’s talk about Light on Me (2021), a mini Korean series, 20 minutes per episode, but the trailer looks wonderful like a big budget series production. The most outstanding thing is the good-looking appearance of all the actors that we can not miss. Our hearts melted just by seeing their faces. What is it like when they are in the scenes? This dramatic series has 2 handsome lead actors as ‘Kang Yoo-Seok’ and ‘Lee Sae-on’ who previously competed in Produce 101. Light on Me is directed by ‘Um Ji-Sun’, a total of 16 episodes. (Currently aired only 2 episodes) The pilot was aired on 29th June, 2021.
The story is about ‘Woo Tae Kyung’ (Lee Sae On), a grade 11 high school student who has never had a friend throughout his life, since he thinks that it is not necessary. One day, he noticed that everyone around him looked happy with their friends. So, he started questioning himself and told his teacher that he did not want to be alone anymore. The problem is how can he start to make new friends?
He asked his teacher for advice about this. Then the teacher suggested that he should join the school’s student council. However, joining the student council requires the approval of the president and the vice president. Noh Shin-Woo (Kang Yoo-Seok), the vice president who Tae Kyung had trouble with, strongly refuses and fearlessly shows that he hates Tae Kyung. Meanwhile, Shin Da-On (Choe Chan-Yi), the president, welcomes and takes good care of him. So, could Tae Kyung try and achieve his goal of being accepted and become one of the student council members or not? Can he find good friendship like other teenagers? We have to find out by watching the series.
The plot sounds simple, nothing flashy and quite gradually smooth, which can commonly be seen from general Boys Love cartoons. However, the first thing that catches our eyes is how they chose very good-looking actors to perform together. They are not only good looking but their acting are also better than expected. It might not be the best acting, but it is cute and smooth, so it invites us to cheer for them. Wouldn’t be wrong if we say that their performance enhances the character’s charm.
